Class 15

We're just about at the end...

All that's left is our final exam, which will be similar to the quizzes (a reading section and a vocabulary section), except that the final exam will have two readings instead of one.

Here is what you should study:

  • The vocabulary from units 8, 9, and 12 (in the boxes at left)
  • Main ideas in paragraphs
  • Reference words (for an example, see #6 on the top of page 9)
  • Linking words (see page 44)
  • Facts and opinions (see page 75)
  • Used to / Be used to (page 72 and my in-class explanation)
  • Stop / Stop to / Try / Try to (page 82)
  • -ing and -ed adjectives (page 111)

Good luck studying, and thanks for all your efforts in this class.

Class 14

Next week we will have our Listening Exam.

This will consist of two listenings, the texts of which will be two of the twelve readings we have done in this course. The question types will be similar to the ones that have appeared in the listening practice exercises we have done every two weeks.

To study for this exam, review those listening practice sheets and the twelve readings (two each from units 1, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 12) that we have done.

I will also return your vocabulary notebooks to you next week, and inform you about the final Reading Exam.
